Here are some of the main findings we wanted to share with you:

• 75% of respondents class Atlantis as their trusted independent electronic component distributor
• 64% of participants rated our overall service as Excellent, with the remaining 36% rating it as Good
• Answering inquiries and sourcing requirements was rated as Excellent or very Good by 100% of participants

10th Anniversary iPad Prize Draw...

MMI Announces the Top 50 EMS Companies of 2013

The Manufacturing Market Insider (MMI) has again announced their list of the top 50 EMS providers for 2013.

MMI is a publication dedicated to the contract manufacturing sector that shares reports, market analysis and trend spotting. Each year MMI complies a list of the world's largest EMS providers who are ranked based on their 2013 sales in U.S. dollars.

This year's list has seen one big change with Pegatron, who didn't even make it into last year's top 10 list, jumping up to the number two position. The remainder of the top 10 companies have all stayed relatively stable, with only Plexus being knocked out of it's top ten position this year.

In 2013, the top 50 sales reached a new high of $254.3 billion which was a growth of 1.9%, evidencing that the industry is still on the up.

Semiconductor Industry Posts Highest-Ever January Sales

The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) announced that worldwide sales of semiconductors reached $26.28 billion for the month of January 2014. This was an increase of 8.8% from January 2013 when sales reached $24.15 billion, meaning this was the industry's highest-ever January sales total.

Global sales from January 2014 were 1.4% lower than the December 2013 total of $26.65 billion which reflects normal seasonal trends.

“The global semiconductor industry has built on its record revenues from 2013 with an impressive start to 2014, led largely by continued strength in the Americas market,” said Brian Toohey, president and CEO, Semiconductor Industry Association. “Sales in January were up across most regions and nearly all product categories compared to last January, which bodes well for continued growth during the rest of 2014.”

Regionally, year-over-year sales increased in the Americas by 17.3%, Europe by 11.3%, and Asia Pacific by 8.3%, but decreased in Japan by -4.7%. Sales were flat in Europe compared to the previous month, but decreased slightly in Asia Pacific by -0.6%, Japan by -2.3%, and the Americas by -3.5%.
